Review: “The Pocket Thomas Merton”

by Carrinicole

I never heard of Thomas Merton until this year.

When I felt everything in my life turned upside down — my direction, my priorities, my sense of self — my neighbor gave me her copy to borrow.

It took me months to crawl through this book, stopping and allowing his words to sink in. I don’t think I can adequately express how much I learned, and how important this book is to me.

Thomas Merton was a Trappist monk, and he is the first person who has spoken about religion and spirituality in a way that makes me understand the appeal.

If you’re looking to make more sense of yourself and the world around you, pick up a copy.
